It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ann Boone, a beloved member of our Boone Karlberg family, who left us on December 15, 2023. Ann was a remarkable individual, known for her vibrant spirit, and her ability to connect with people in profound ways.

On August 8, 1964, Ann joined hands in marriage with Thomas H. Boone, creating a partnership that spanned nearly six decades. Their love and companionship were a testament to the strength of their bond and the foundation of a beautiful life together.

Ann loved the Missoula community and was actively involved with many Missoula non-profits including the International Choral Festival, and Five Valleys Land Trust. She served two terms as a trustee of School District 1 in Missoula. Her love of the University of Montana led her to work at the University of Montana Foundation and serve on many boards at the University including the Foundation Board of Trustees. She also helped to create the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (MOLLI) program at the University.

Ann's radiant personality and genuine interest in others made her a beloved figure in every circle she touched. She had an extraordinary way of forging connections, demonstrating a rare combination of curiosity, understanding, and an engaging spirit. Her friendships were treasured, and her ability to make people feel valued left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Boone Karlberg extends our deepest care and condolences to Tom Boone, and the entire Boone family.

Legacy of Light: In Honor of Ann Boone’s Lifelong Dedication

 By Doug James

In the land where the mountains stand proud,

And the rivers whisper tales aloud,

A spirit soared, a force untamed,

Ann Boone’s legacy, forever named.

In Montana’s embrace, a spirit now at rest,

Ann Boone, advocate, in memory is blessed.

A champion of knowledge, liberal arts she adored,

For the University of Montana, her passion soared.

December’s cold embrace took her away,

Yet in our hearts, she will always stay.

A champion for the University’s grace,

A soul that left an indelible trace.

An advocate with fervor, passion ablaze,

In liberal arts, she sought to raise.

Philanthropy’s dance, her chosen song,

Ann Boone, to education, she belonged.

From graduate dreams to trustee’s chair,

Her commitment to the University rare.

Boards and committees, her path aligned,

In the halls of learning, her light shined.

Osher Lifelong Learning, a gift she sowed,

MOLLI blossomed, the seeds she stowed.

A beacon for knowledge, a lifelong flame,

In every student, she etched her name.

Beyond the campus, her reach extended wide,

Missoula’s schools found her by their side.

Choral melodies and valleys of trust,

In the tapestry of service, Ann thrust.

Bright and strong, opinions freely flowed,

Curiosity and learning, her life’s abode.

A volunteer with a heart so grand,

In every project, she’d take a stand.

Tom Boone her partner through the years,

A remarkable team, laughter through tears.

United, they blessed the community’s core,

In love’s embrace, forevermore.

Through laughter shared and stories spun,

Ann’s charm, a dance beneath the sun.

Her engaging soul, a magnetic grace,

Left an indelible mark on every face.

In the tapestry of life, she wove her part,

A masterful weaver of love and heart.

The world, a canvas touched by her grace,

Ann’s legacy, a better, brighter place.

In the halls of Montana, where memories gleam,

Ann Boone’s spirit, a radiant beam.

She made us better, left an enduring mark,

In the echoes of her legacy, we embark.

Boone Karlberg P.C. proudly announces the addition of our new Associate Attorney, Forrest M. Crowl.

Forrest was raised in Laurel, Montana. After graduating from Portland State University in Oregon, he returned to Montana to attend law school at the University of Montana. While in law school, Forrest interned with Boone Karlberg, completed a clinical internship with the Missoula County Attorney’s Office, and was a member of the Montana Law Review and National Moot Court team. Following law school, Forrest served as a law clerk to U.S. District Court Judge Sam E. Haddon before returning to the firm.

Forrest enjoys exploring Montana with his wife and two springer spaniels.

Boone Karlberg P.C. proudly announces the addition of our new Associate Attorney, Hamiton Q Platt.

Hamilton was born and raised in Helena, Montana.  He moved to Missoula to attend the University of Montana, where he earned an undergraduate degree in Wildlife Biology.  After college, Hamilton attended the University of Montana School of Law, graduating with honors in 2023.  During law school, Hamilton worked as an intern with Boone Karlberg and performed his clinical internship with U.S. District Court Judge Donald W. Molloy.

Hamilton spends his free time hunting, fishing, hiking, and riding horses in the mountains with his family.

Boone Karlberg is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our colleague and dear friend, Dean Stensland, on February 28, 2023.  Dean was an attorney with Boone Karlberg from 1990, until his retirement at the end of 2020.  Dean was also President of Boone Karlberg for over a decade.  Most importantly, Dean was an inspiration to all of us – professionally, personally and emotionally.  While Dean will be dearly missed by everyone, his integrity, advocacy and enthusiasm for life will remain deep-rooted in all of us.  Boone Karlberg extends our deepest care and condolence to the entire Stensland family.

Boone Karlberg P.C. extends our congratulations to Natasha P. Jones on her well deserved admittance to membership in the International Society of Barristers (ISOB).  Membership is extended to advocates of exceptional talent whose qualities – including integrity, honor, and collegiality – embody the spirit of the true legal professional.

Membership is extended by invitation and only after a thorough and rigorous screening process that considers the lawyer’s abilities, experience, accomplishments, and ethical standards as assessed by trial lawyers and judges in the jurisdiction in which the lawyer practices.  The Society nurtures excellent and professionalism advocacy by its recognition of members’ achievements.  There are less than 20 Montana lawyers admitted as members of ISOB including recognized leaders of the profession such as Hon. Dana L. Christensen, Jim Goetz and Mikel Moore.  As Fellows of the Society, members are committed to the highest ethical standards and to civility in their personal and professional relationships.  The Society has Fellows from every State, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Australia, Canada, England, Scotland and Ireland.

The Society was conceived to bring together the best of the trial bar in a setting devoid of partisan interests, whether political or across a plaintiff/defendant divide.  Meetings provide an opportunity to consider issues of ethics and excellence in advocacy as well as the crucial role of litigation and the rule of law in a democratic society.

ISOB members are committed to safeguarding the right to trial by jury, improving advocacy skills, recognizing the rights of citizens in the judicial process.  Tasha has done that in a multitude of ways, including teaching trial advocacy at the Advanced Trial Advocacy program, her involvement with law school education and her devotion to the continued improvement of the annual Bench-Bar CLE.

Tasha will be formally inducted into ISOB at the March meeting of the Society in Barcelona, Spain, in March, 2023.
